Residents enjoyed a 1940s-themed afternoon tea with authentic wartime decorations and songs.

The team at Marina dressed up in their finest 40s attire, enhancing the immersive experience for all.

Families and residents of Marina Care Home delighted in an afternoon tea featuring classic cream scones, set to the nostalgic tunes of wartime classics.

The whole room couldn’t help but join the professional singer by singing along to the war time classics and dancing.

The highlight of the day was a heartfelt performance from the husband of resident whilst holding hands with his wife.

We reminisced throughout the day. Donald Roger, a Resident at Marina Care Home said “I remember VE Day, there were street parties where I live at the time in Kings Lynn, Norfolk.

I was 11 at the time, I remember my Mum and Dad participating in some liquid refreshments whilst I had Lemonade, it was in a glass bottle with a screw top, it was a real treat.

One of my memories of the war was that everyone was very guarded, they didn’t say much and there was a sign that said “Careless talk costs lives.”
